Cultivating community is extremely important to both Grant and I (Steph) in our life travels both together and separately. That may be one of the foremost commonalities we share. Scenic Drive is a space built for community. There, you can not only shop “cycle-ready goods remade from salvaged parts” (for so many of you avid and green bikers out there), but you can also rent a sewing machine by the hour!

Of course I had to purchase miniatures! Who can resist an ironic vintage matchbook for $3? Or this night photograph for $5? Both by Emily Hicks, of which I will hereby now be following her blog. Yay, for two of my favorite things- Miniatures and Night Photography.
I heart the amazing pen and ink style drawings of UK artist, Izzie Klingels. Please check out her website- I did before I even got to the Market and was so impressed by her work.
I’m also a fool for Geology, (see my other blog “Sugar in Rocks”) and objects from the earth that dazzle, hence my interest in these necklaces from Cairo at 507 E Mercer Street in Capitol Hill.
See the websites below for more great gifts available from some of the participates of this event:

Thanks to all the artists we met and to the Management of Scenic Drive for showing their support of our wonderfully eclectic, creative community. As an added note, our good friend Dawn Smithson (incredible musician, designer, artist) is teaching evening workshops next month that focus on re-inventing old clothing items into fashionable day bags- how perfect for January, a time for regrowth and renewal in a new year.
